Most importantly, the HydraFacial MD® is the only hydradermabrasion machine that uses the patented 4-in-1 Vortex Technology™.

Preparation for Peel Treatment

You will be having a light peel treatment on the day of your appointment.  Please follow the outline below to prepare.

Please refrain from these activities prior to your Tx Jessner Chemical Peel:

• Tanning in a tanning booth (this practice should be discontinued)

• Having a wax or chemical depilatory treatment (5-8 days)

• Getting Botox, or any other dermal filler injections (2 days prior)

• Microdermabrasion treatments (7 Days Prior)

• Laser hair removal (7 Days Prior)

• Photorejuvenation (7 Days Prior)

• If you are pregnant or nursing, you are NOT a candidate for Tx Jessner Plus.

• Please refrain from sun exposure for ten (10) days prior to your appointment. Do not come to the appointment sunburned (please let us know if you are unable to keep your appointment).

• Delay use of Retin-A, Tazorac or Avage and high percentage glycolic acid products for approximately five (5) to ten (10) days prior to your appointment. (Using any of these will take the treatment deeper and make your results less predictable.

• If you are a male client receiving a peel, do not shave the day of the peel and for the day following the peel.

These superficial peels will result in little to no downtime. Treatments may include slight redness, tightness, peeling flaking and/or temporary dryness. Most patients find it unnecessary to apply makeup, as your skin will be smooth, dewy and radiant following your treatment.  If you would like to apply makeup, allow approximately 15 minutes for the pH of the skin to stabilize before applying foundation.

Post Instructions for a Chemical Peel

You have just received a chemical peel treatment (“treatment”). Due to the nature of these treatments, you should not necessarily expect to “peel.” However, you may have light to moderate flaking in a few localized areas for 3 to 7 days. You may also experience residual redness which lasts in most patients from 1 to 12 hours.

It is recommended that you do not apply make-up the day of the treatment. It is ideal to allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight. However, make-up can be applied, if necessary. Tonight your skin will feel tight and “pulled.” Apply moisturizer as frequently as needed. Although, you may or may not actually “peel,” it is likely that you will experience a light “exfoliation.” It may take 2 or more treatments for the surface skin to loosen and “peel.” Unless recommended by your physician/technician, in order to avoid irritation do not apply any other medications or AHA products to your skin.

For the next 3 to 7 days, it is essential to:

  1. Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat.

  2. Use ONLY your moisturizing cream & Sunscreen

  3. Hydrocortisone cream use as needed (Helps to repair reddened, irritated or traumatized skin)

  4. DO Not pick or pull any loosening or exfoliating skin. This could potentially cause hyper-pigmentation.

  5. ABSOLUTELY not go to a tanning booth for at least 3 weeks before or after a treatment.

  6. Discontinue the use of Retin-A or any prescription topical medication for 7 days post-treatment.

  7. Do Not have electrolysis, facial waxing, or use depilatories for approximately 5 days after treatment.

  8. Do Not have laser hair removal, photo-rejuvenation, microdermabrasion or any other para-medical services for 14 days post treatment.

  9. Discontinue the use of any other home care products.

  10. Do Not apply ice or ice water to the treated areas.

  11. Do Not put your face directly into a hot shower spray. Do not use a Jacuzzi, steam room, or sauna. post 2 days of treatment.

  12. Do Not go swimming for 2 days post treatment.

  13. Do Not participate in activities that would cause excessive perspiration for 2 days post treatment.

  14. Do Not use mechanical exfoliation or facial scrubs.

  15. Do Not direct a hair dryer onto the treated area.

  16. Stay cool! Getting heated internally can cause hyper-pigmentation.

  17. NOT HAVE ANOTHER TREATMENT UNTIL YOUR SKIN CARE SPECIALIST ADVISES YOU TO DO SO.

  18. Please contact the clinic if you have any concerns or worries 807-768-7820

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Who are great candidates for Chemical Peels?

People who want a rejuvenated appearance to their skin, people who have acne (fantastic results)

How Much Downtime is expected with a chemical peel?

There is minimal downtime with chemical peels. Application of the chemical peel takes approximately 15-30 minutes. You can actually receive a peel on your lunch hour and return to work.

When will I start to "peel" from the treatment and how much peeling should I expect?

Everyone's experience will be different. However, on an average, you will see flaking by day two or" three following the treatment. It is possible to see flaking for up to five or six days.

What kind of feeling will I have with an application of a peel?

Mild to Med Peels are only slightly irritating. You may experience mild burning or stinging, which is transient.

What peels can be used on someone who frequently works out?

Someone who frequently works out can have any peel but must wait 48 hours after the treatment to exercise.

My skin is very thin. Why would I want to peel? Wouldn't that make my skin thinner?

If your skin is dry and thin, often there is a buildup of dead cells that actually keeps your home care products from penetrating. Having an Ultra Peel™ treatment will remove the surface buildup, hydrate the skin and give it a more plump, "thicker" appearance. The use of Vitamin C products in the treatment, as well as in your home care program, will help to build the collagen in your skin, thus making it stronger and more durable.

Can a pregnant or lactating woman receive a peel?

It is not recommended. Microdermabrasion would be a good option.

Can someone using Retinol A or Accutane have a chemical peel?

It is recommended that Retinol A use be stopped five days prior to a peel and five days post treatment because of potential irritation and uneven peel penetration. Accutane users tend to have very dry and sensitive skin and need to be treated only with peels that are appropriate for their skin type.
